Funding & Independence
How Bengal Gazette is funded and how we protect our editorial independence from commercial and political influence.
Our Independence Model
Bengal Gazette is designed from the ground up to be independent of the interests that typically compromise investigative journalism: concentrated ownership, advertiser influence, and political patronage. Our revenue architecture reflects this commitment.
Founding Principle
"Open to all Parties, but influenced by None." No funder, donor, or commercial partner may direct, delay, or suppress our editorial decisions. If they attempt to do so, the relationship ends.
Revenue Sources
Bengal Gazette may license original investigative content to other media organisations. Syndication partners have no editorial influence whatsoever.
ActiveCollaborative agreements with NGOs and civil society for joint public-interest research. All arrangements are publicly disclosed.
ActiveVoluntary reader contributions and membership. No contribution confers any editorial influence.
PlannedWhat We Will Never Accept
- Funding from political parties, government bodies, or state-linked entities
- Advertising revenue from organisations we cover or may cover
- Funding conditioned on editorial outcomes or coverage decisions
- Anonymous large donations without verified source
Annual Transparency Report
Bengal Gazette will publish an annual transparency report disclosing revenue sources, editorial activity, corrections issued, and governance updates. The first report will be published at the end of our first full year of operation.
Legal Registration
